In accordance with Chancellor’s Regulation A-801 (see below forregulation with translations) , the DOE provides transportation toall eligible New York City students in public, charter, and non-public schools. In partnership with the Metropolitan TransitAuthority (MTA) and our school age and preschool buscompanies, our mission is to ensure safe and reliabletransportation to and from school.
Transportation eligibility is based on a student’s grade level, walking distance between home and school, and existing accommodations based on a medical condition, housing status,or safety assessment.
Schools distribute student MetroCards to eligible students at thebeginning of each semester, and as needed during the schoolyear. You can immediately use your student MetroCard at everysubway and local bus. Student MetroCards cannot be used on
express buses.
Students attending school in person will be offered free breakfast and lunch daily in school. Please contact your schoolfor more information on meal times and locations.
